My Story
Hello,
My name is Brigitte Ehrat and I thank you for visiting my web site. I find that knowing a little about an artist always makes the story of any piece purchased a fun one to share. So here is a little bit of my life adventure.
I am a Swiss-French Aussie who moved to Australia in 1981 with my family. Since a very young age I enjoyed creating things with my hands. As a little girl it was all sorts of arts and crafts. In my teens I discovered porcelain painting and experimented with making anything from tiles, chandeliers, light fixture and up to complete dinner sets that are still used today!
I trained to be a dental technician and used my skills to engrave art pieces on to glass. The more I searched for fun things to do with my hands the more I discovered that my creative interests were very diverse. Everywhere I looked there were treasures I could use to transform something old into something new....no item was safe from me! All sorts of things made their way to my studio for a make-over.
After much exploration I was introduced to the art of beadwork. It started as a creative experiment and is now a passion that I have the pleasure of sharing with lot's of people around the world.
I feel that every bead has its own story to tell and I try to express that story in a unique way. Most of my pieces are 'one of kind', some in more subtle ways than others. We are all unique in our own way so it makes sense to me that the jewellery we wear expresses that either through colour or design or both!
In recent years, I specialized in paper beads. Since then, Weet-Bix, Nutri-Grain, and all sorts of other packaging materials, Christmas cards, wrapping papers and magazines are turned into the most amazing pieces of jewellery.
Please enjoy your journey through my website, you will be sure to find something that is just right for you.
Brigitte
